This is the first thing any of your passengers will see of your piloting skills. This is where they get their first impression and one of the two main ways they judge you (Takeoff and Landing). Whether it is a spouse, friend, family member, employer or FAA Examiner riding with you it always looks much better and puts them at ease when they see and feel a nice smooth takeoff. You are really just guiding the plane, keeping it on the runway until it has accelerated enough down the runway for the wings to create enough Lift to overcome Gravity and let the plane fly.
